W.P. "Bill" Griffith is the eldest of Earl Griffith's sons. Growing up in Woolwine, VA, Bill graduated from Woolwine High School in 1953. He was an employee at United Elastic Corporation for 10 years before returning to the family business in 1972 as a partner with his dad and brother, Bruce. With the exception of those years, Bill has worked his entire life at Griffith Lumber and is a third-generation lumberman. He is also a partner in Griffith Land and Timber Company.
Community Activities
Bill is Past-President of the Woolwine Ruritan Club and a former Boy Scout leader. He has also been active in local sports, playing and coaching, and is active in community charities and wildlife events.
Hobbies & Family
Bill is an avid golfer and is a fan of bluegrass music and NASCAR racing. He enjoys hunting and spending time with his dogs, friends, and family. He and his wife Dotty ((deceased) have three children, Jackie, Bud, and Jessica; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
